Happy Birthday Carrie- From Michael Scott and Jim Halpert

Tuesday was our assistant Principal's, Carrie, birthday. We knew that she was a fellow Office watcher. If you are fan of the show then you know that one of the practical jokes they like to play is to put objects from peoples desk into jello molds.Brittney and I have been planning this for months. We wanted to wait for a special occasion to do this and Carrie's birthday was perfect.
Our Principal, Chad, was in on this joke and helped to "borrow" Carrie's teacher of the year award.1 box of jello +

Way Behind- Getting Ready for the Holidays

I knew that eventually I would resort back to my old habits of starting something and never finishing. I am going to try really hard not to wait so long to post again. Maybe this is my pre-New Year's resolution.

I love the holidays. There is nothing that excites me more than decorationg for Christmas. So before we left to go home for Thanksgiving this year I talked Brittney into decorating the tree.

Goodbye fall decorations. Can't wait to see you next year.

Hello Christmas. I am so glad you are here. I've missed you.

We just HAD to watch White Christmas while decorating. My personal favorite. Sadly I still have it on VHS.

Hanging the first ornament. My new ornament from Disney World. It's Cinderella's castle.

We tried to take a picture of ourselves in front of the tree. Why... I don't know. These are some out takes.

Sorry Britt!

This is the best one I could find.
It was so nice to come home from Thanksgiving and have a decorated house.

FALL *sigh*

I love fall and all the fun events that it brings. This fall has been very busy, but so much fun. I think I have been busy every weekend since school started. Fall brings county fairs. Here we are at the Wilson County fair. Very crowded but very worth it.
I love the lights of Ferris wheels at night. I don't love riding Ferris wheels.

Waiting in line for a ride that I didn't even ride.
What kind of southern girls would we be if we didn't get something fried at the fair. We chose to split fried oreos. YUMMMM!

Next fall took us to Virginia for Jennifer's wedding. Here were are at the reception. We might have gotten lost in Virginia and missed the wedding ceremony... maybe.

And finally Laura and Luke's wedding. It definitely felt like fall as you can see from the picture.

They had their ceremony and reception at Burrit on the Mountain in Huntsville. This was the view. It was absolutely gorgeous.
What a perfect fall night.

Road Trip

This weekend Brittney, Sarah, Mindy, and I took a little road trip to Atlanta to visit our friend Katie. After surviving the first week of school we felt we needed a little getaway.

We didn't get to Atlanta till late Friday night so we had to make up for that on Saturday. We started the day off my doing what we do best...shopping. Katie took us to this fun outdoor shopping center, Atlantic Station.

My favorite store that we don't have in Nashville, H & M. Oddly I didn't buy any clothes there. We shopped, ate lunch, went to IKEA, and drove around the same block about 20 times trying to get to the interstate... and yes we had a GPS.

We finally made our way to Turner Field. Once we found the interstate we didn't have any trouble getting to the game...except for turning down the wrong way on a one way street. Here we all are.
When we walked into the stadium Mindy made fast friends with a man that worked for the Braves. He asked to look at our ticket. We were sitting in the nose bleed section. Our new friend told us we could not sit all the way up there and that he would come and get us in the 3rd inning and move us down.
So we made the trek to our nosebleed seats. Don't you love the skyline in the background.

Mindy and Katie trying to stay cool in the blazing sun.

Sarah found the only shade when Brittney stood up to take our picture.

Then right before the game started our new friend Steve came and found us and told us he was moving us down! At this point we thought we were probably being moved to the lower upper level.
Then our new friend gave us all FREE HATS! We were already ecstatic at this point. The only catch we had to sing Happy Birthday to this little boy who came to his first Braves game for his birthdayYou can only imagine the excitement among us when we got on an elevator and ended up here. Right on the 3rd baseline.
Can you see what good seats we had?!

Group shot in our new and improved seats!
I had to include this picture especially for Katie. This Asian couple sat in front of us. They were so into the game. The lady would stand up and cheer anytime Chipper Jones came up to bat. She would yell out Chippa Jowns... I love Chippa Jowns.

The Braves won, we got free hats, and we only got lost once on the way home. We had an awesome day.
Last group shot at lunch today. We thought we all coordinated well with our solid colored dresses. One man at church even asked if we were a sorority. I guess we might look like one...we do tend to travel in large groups of mostly girls :) Our trip to Atlanta was the perfect weekend getaway. I am pretty sure we are definitely planning on another trip to Atlanta...we only got to spend 30 minutes in Ikea!

ooooh la-la!

Things have been so CRAZY with the start of school. Friday was a first great day of school but I was exhausted Friday night. Thankfully I was able to rest up enough to participate in this fun night. Jennifer's bachelorette party!
We started the night right by eating snacks and cake at Brooke's house. Jennifer opened her gifts here. You can see by the look on her face she totally enjoyed opening all her gifts.

The brides to be. Jennifer first and then Laura.

Two of my favorite people. I thank God constantly for bringing these girls into my life.

And of course Jennifer couldn't have made it through the night without a little embarrassment. We went to eat at the Hard Rock Cafe downtown and then go line dancing at the Wild Horse. We actually got in free because Jennifer was the bachelorette... but sadly my camera batteries died so no pictures from Wildhorse.

Gang's All Here!

Weekend Update...except this is from last weekend. I have been extremely busy working in my classroom this week and been too tired to blog at night. I already am a bad blogger. But I am doing this for me and not for others so maybe I am not a bad blogger, maybe.
Last weekend Mindy and Lauren came to visit from Huntsville. I always love when they come to visit. I love my friends from college. Brittany P., now BrittanyG. but I don't call her that, met us for dinner. After dinner was the best surprise of all. We got to have coffee with our friend Katie. Katie and her husband Allen now live in Atlanta. It was so good to catch up with her and see how happy she is. Thank to Allen for taking the picture. Of course we had to go to Starbucks but this is not just any Starbucks. This is our Starbucks that we spent many hours at in college. Especially when we lived in the dorm and had no place to hang out but each other's rooms. Oh, if only those Starbucks tables and walls could talk they would tell of the many hilarious, serious, and wonderful conversations we had there. The sad part of the evening was that Brittney H. was on vacation and couldn't be there. We all missed her.

On Saturday my Mom came to visit. She originally came to help in my classroom but we were unable to get into the building. So we do what my mom and I do best... SHOP! We headed down to downtown Franklin to check out the shops. I love little downtown's like this! I showed my mom all around Franklin and Spring Hill trying to convince her she needs to move over this way. She did not like that I took this picture of her by herself.
Coming soon... I redecorated my bathroom and my classroom at school. I hope put some pictures up soon. The beginning of school is always so crazy! I am just trying to enjoy my last weekend of summer before school starts back.

Goodbye Summer

Today was my last day of work at my summer job. I have been blessed to work at my church with the children's ministry. 5 years ago I began as a summer intern. That year Suzanne had been my teacher for an education class. She posted an ad needing a summer intern. Orginally I the ad caught my eye because I thought it was a babysitting ad. Little did I know what God had in store for me. I enjoying coming to work each day at church. There is never a dull moment and the people are the best to work with. Here are some of the awesome ladies I get to work with. This picture is from Sarah's wedding. ( Thanks Fawn, I swiped it off Facebook and that is why it might be a little blury).
I also get to work with Suzanne each summer. We are very different people but we really work well together. She has been a wonderful mentor to me these past 5 years not only with children's ministry but also because she was a teacher at one time. I made her take this picture today even though I know she didn't want to, but Judy and her amamzing photographry skills saved the day. Thanks Judy!
It always makes me a little sad to leave because I love working with all the wonderful people and it means that school is just around the corner and summer is coming to an end. Just wanted to share a little bit about the wonderful summer job that I have.
Coming soon...repainting my bathroom. We'll see how it goes.

15 Ways to Charm Her

Last weekend I went to Sweetwater to visit for the weekend. My wonderful mother always puts her Southern Living magazines, that she has already read, in my room for me to read. So sweet! This article in the back of the magazine caught my eye and being a single southern girl I just had to share.
15 Ways to Charm Her
Want to impress a Southern girl? Just think "What would my grandfather have done?"
1. Stand up for a lady
2. Know that the SEC had the best football teams in the nation( Amen! Go Vols!)
3. Kill Bugs!
4. Hold doors open( Most guys have this one covered in their defense)
5. Fix things or build stuff( I recently had a conversation about this)
6. Wear boots occasionally- not the fancy I paid $1000 for these. We're talking slightly, mud crusted I just came out of the fields boots.( My dad wears boots and I like to make fun of him for this but I secretly love this about him.)
7. Take off your hat inside.
8. Grill stuff.
9. Call us.
10. Stand when we come back to the dinner table.
11.Pull out our chairs.
12. Pay the tab on the first few dates.
13. Don't show up in a wrinkled, untucked shirt.
14. Never get in bar fights.
15. Know how to mix our favorite cocktail just the way we like it.( or know to go to Sonic to get us a large diet coke- I added this. :)Diet Coke would be my cocktail of choice. )
I hope this is not plagiarizing! Please don't report me. What would you add to this list?

Joining the Bandwagon

So here is my attempt at starting a blog. I have heard a lot about blogs lately and was introduced to blogs by another blogger. Once I began looking at all these blogs I became slightly obsessed...maybe even a little stalkerish. Not really stalkerish but I did realize how much I enjoyed seeing what other people were up to and I found a lot of encouragement from people's blogs that I found that I didn't even know. Now I find myself waiting for people to update their blogs. I have also seen how God has used the blogging world to his advantage. I have heard and seen for myself so many situations where a blog was started or mentioned to me about praying for a certain situation. I have also read several blogs where people had written very encouraging post. Most of the people's blogs that I have kept up with are married or married with children. I thought who wants to hear about a single girls life. Then I began thinking I live a pretty fun life and at least this will help me keep an account of this season of my life. Also I pray that God will let this encourage someone like so many blogs have encouraged me. My principal is always encouraging the teachers at my school to get to know everyone's story in life. I am not very good at sharing personal things about myself so I also pray that this will help me to be more open and share my story with more people. So here it goes... My First Post!
